Listen for more 'Frozen' in Disney's Festival of Fantasy

movie. Anna and Elsa appear in the first segment of the parade with Belle and Beast from "Beauty & the Beast," Cinderella and Prince Charming, and Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog." The music during that portion of the parade mixes tunes from all the movies. The new "Frozen" melodies mixed into the music come from "For the First Time in Forever" and "Let it Go." The music in "Festival of Fantasy" is quite complex — not only does each of the amazing floats have its own medley of Disney tunes, the main theme that plays throughout the parade has different mixes — a calypso take for the "Little Mermaid" float, for example. This can make it tricky when watching to avoid a mashup headache. The first time I watched was musical chaos — like hearing three different radios, each playing something different, at the same time. In part, that's because I was at the edge of a parade zone — the point where the speakers start playing the next float's music. I've had much better luck since then, positioning myself where the sound is clearer, and the theme song has really grown on me. The tune is certainly catchy, even if the lyrics are a little nonsensical. Are they really singing "Dreams that glow, wondrous, dazzling, brilliantly"? Huh? Pictures: Celebrities in PETA ads through the years There's so, so much to love about this parade, though: Clever choreography changes with each new float. (Make sure to watch the fun-loving Scottish dancers from "Brave.") The awesome animatronics: chipper Olaf, the goat eating the Flynn Ryder "Wanted" poster, cutie-pie Dumbo, even Sebastian and Flounder from the late, great SpectroMagic. I don't even have to mention the fire-breathing dragon; enough has been written about that steampunk marvel. The overall feel of "Festival of Fantasy" is that of a classic spectacle, yet it's a salute to the modern movies, the next generation's classics-in-the-making: "Brave," "Tangled," "Princess and the Frog," "Frozen." Just one quibble: What has Sleeping Beauty done to annoy the Disney parade department? In SpectroMagic, there was an extended sequence devoted to her film, but she did not appear. Same thing in this parade. It's strange. Still, without a doubt, this is the best parade the Magic Kingdom has turned out in years.
